What a great meeting. George McAllister MC'd our meeting opening with "Don't forget our 'Honey Tasting Contest in October". He introduced our speakers, Tommy Helms, fifty-year beekeeper, long time, (forever) member, Lauren Peterson, new beekeeper, Craig and Jona Ashford, long time members and beekeepers, and Brandy Sciarrino, new beekeeper. All gifted and tallented beekeepers showcasing the many uses of products from the hive.

Use clean, filtered water. use equipment that is only for wax. Constantly stir your wax and filter your wax.

Lauren explained how to collect and clean wax cappings. She went on to demostrate how to make lip balm, beeswax candles and discussed so many other ways to use beeswax, such as lotion bars, reusable food wraps.

Kim Entrekin's Encaustic art, was made by sealing mushroom logs and other uses from furniture to shoe polish.

Encaustic Painting, is beeswax mixed with colored pigments that is heated and applied over wood or canvas with special tools.

Brandy Sciarrino demonstrated scented hand balm, lotion candles, soy wax candles, body butter and lotion bars.

Craig and Jona Ashford demonstrated soap making, with all of the different oils, scents, shapes and colors. Along with many different lotion bars and lip balm.

What a wonderful meeting with great demonstrations, Hours of meeting new friends, learning new hobbies, discovering so many different ways beeswax can be used.
