• Cost:  $25, includes text, handouts, goodie bag, equipment catalogs, refreshments, field day, Certified Beekeeper exam, one year membership in Mecklenburg County Beekeepers, and answers to all the questions you can ask.
• 16 hours of classroom instruction; suggested outside readings, videos and internet links; hands-on orientation with equipment and supplies. 
• Instruction tailored to beginners, but also useful for those who have bees and want to know more.  Empahsis on various ways to get started with bees.
• Classes held at Marion Diehl Recreation Center, 2219 Tyvola Road, behind the Senior Center between Park Road and South Blvd, Charlotte (see link to map on home page).
• Field Day in early April, held at a member's bee yard, for hands-on practice manipulating a hive of bees, finding the queen, and understanding what to look for. 
• Children welcome if accompanied by an adult.
