Union County will offer a one-day class on March 1, email Wayne Hansen at whansen319@yahoo.com to register or for more information.
This year's class will run for 9 weeks, Tuesday evenings 7 to 9 pm. Plus, graduates will attend a full Field Day for hands-on practice with bees and hives, tentatively scheduled in April.
- Cost: $25, includes text, handouts, goodie bag, equipment catalogs, refreshments, field day, Certified Beekeeper exam, one year membership in Mecklenburg County Beekeepers, and answers to all the questions you can ask.
- 16 hours of classroom instruction; suggested outside readings, videos and internet links; hands-on orientation with equipment and supplies.
- Instruction tailored to beginners, but also useful for those who have bees and want to know more. Empahsis on various ways to get started with bees.
- Classes held at Marion Diehl Recreation Center, 2219 Tyvola Road, behind the Senior Center between Park Road and South Blvd, Charlotte (see link to map on home page).
- Field Day in early April, held at a member's bee yard, for hands-on practice manipulating a hive of bees, finding the queen, and understanding what to look for.
- Children welcome if accompanied by an adult.

On site registration at the first class will be accepted if space is available; please arrive at 6:30 pm to register so class can start promptly at 7.
