Welcome to Mecklenburg Beekeepers Association honey extractor registration site.

To keep honey processing affordable, the club provides members a 6 frame radial honey extractor (shallow and medium frames only) with 11 inch stand, cold uncapping knife, capping scratcher, uncapping tub and 5 gallon bucket with honey gate. You will need to provide food grade filters and storage containers. It is very important that all your equipment and supplies are setup in advance so you don't run out of time. Because of high demand there is a four day rental maximum.

This equipment is for member's use only. Do not pass the equipment around as you are responsible for its condition. Dents and scratches reduce the life and performance of the equipment.

The rental fee is $2.00 per day. At this price partial day pricing doesn't make sense. A payment envelope is included with your equipment.

The equipment is located at George McAllister's house which is within one mile of SouthPark Mall. Detailed directions will be included in your confirmation email. You can pick up the equipment anytime and it is due back by 7:00pm so it will be available for pickup the next morning. Do not be late because you will be impacting the next person in line to use the equipment.

The extractor is large with a height of 29 inches and 19 inch diameter barrel. The side of the extractor with the handle has a length of 25 inches. It will not fit in a back seat of most cars. Plan to use your trunk.

When finished wash all equipment thoroughly with cold water and return dry. Take note of how all the pieces are assembled before taking the equipment apart. The next person in line does not want to assemble equipment. A small amount of white vinegar can be used. If you use white vinegar be sure to thoroughly rinse the equipment to remove all the vinegar. Do not use detergents as any residue will contaminate the honey.

If you have time your bees can do a lot of the cleaning but you will still need to wash with water. No honey is wasted if the bees help in the cleaning process. However you will need to add a day to your reservation so the bees can do their job. Please plan accordingly.

If you have any questions or need to cancel your reservation, email or call George McAllister.

You can reserve the equipment here or contact George McAllister at 704-579-1169 or via email.
